12 Useful Web Based Twitter Tools!

Submitted by Richard Darell122,122 Views | 129 Comments

Fresh ImageIntroduction

Twitter is rapidly becoming the largest and most utilized social community tool out there for both personal and business use. This have spawned developers to creating a slew of third party Twitter applications that are both useful and fun! I thought I was going to create a list of the ones that I know about so you can use them in your daily Twittering.

What really surprises me is that you can do so much from the Twitter API. Heard somewhere that they do not supply the IP address in the API for various reasons. Would be cool to see an app that actually plotted put your followers on a map so you could know instantly where they are from. Maybe something to create. Anyone?

If you know of any other apps except the ones listed here, you are more then welcome to add it in a comment below and I will add them to the list and credit you for it.

Twitter Grader

If you want to compare (grade) yourself to other Twitters this app gives you your precise chart position in the Twitter world.

Nearby Tweets

Have you ever wondered if someone of your Twitter followers is living close to you. Nearby Tweets is the perfect app to check that.

Cursebird

Just how much do we curse on Twitter. Check out this app that shows everytime someone curse and what they said.

Retweet Radar

What and who’s hot and most talked about in Twitter. This app constantly monitoring what and who is being most talked about.

Tweetcube

Ever wanted to send a file to some through twitter? well, now you can. Tweet cube is a great app for sending files to you followers.

Tweet Backup

Backup your Twitter Profile. It backups your list of followers and also the 3.200 of the latests tweets.

Tweet Stats

Do you want to show all your Twitter stats in a graph? Shows Tweets Per Hour, Tweets Per Month, Tweet Timeline, Reply Statistics and much more.

My Cleenr

Do you have a lot of inactive followers. Clean up you Twitter followers with this useful tool.

Twitter Search

Search tweets with this tool. It seems it’s a bit unbalanced but works.

Monitter

Monitor three words in the Twitterverse at a time. You want to know what people are saying about you? Useful tool!

Friend Or Follow

Are constantly monitoring who follows you back? Are your followers a “Diva” not following you back? This tool sorts that out. Really useful tool.

Twitter Karma

A useful tool that lets you sort your followers by different categories.

Check out: http://txtn.us – it’s in beta now. Url shortener, some text fun tools like mirroring and upside down.

It uses special characters to guarantee just 6 characters in the URL, like this:

    http://❽.ws/❤

Seems pretty cool. They also have tools to reduce text using ligature replacements, to fit more into the 140 limits. It’s beta but I’ve noticed it’s getting better. And why not? My son is heading things up.

Give it a try. Of course it also can be used on other social media sites.

If you dont want to hand over your twitter usernames and passwords to a third party website but want to implement a “keyword” autofollow
    Or
if you are running multiple accounts and need more than 100 api hits an hour (if you get your ip address whitelisted you can get 20,000 api calls an hour).

Then check out http://www.MyTwitterButler.com for $10 it’s a windows .net application that run directly on your pc instead of in the cloud.

    It does two things;

1/ Auto Follows Users with up to 4 search terms per twitter account (allows multiple accoutns – I run mine with 11 accounts simultaneously but it slows it down).

2/ Direct Message Broadcast – you can send a direct message to all you users with just one click.

I’m hoping http://refynr.com will be added to the list some day. It’s being Alpha tested now, and I could use some more help testing. Sign up with Alpha Code: Alpha1Tester and let me know how it goes via the Feedback tab on the right of every page.

Quick overview of Refynr: it let’s you save all the “good tweets” to one, simple continuous Stream. “Good tweets” are defined by you via Keyword Lists, so that you only see tweets from your Friends that interest you. This a great way to reduce the “noise” from your Twitter feed, especially while at the office. And Facebook integration coming soon :)
