And as far as getting them to create emotional performances that an audience can engage with? Not likely! Why when many many humans work so hard to be actors and only a few really succeed do you think some rendered version is going to? When you look into the eyes of a great actor you see the intent & emotion.. THAT is what makes them great!

Obviously, you have never heard of Shrek or any other CG movie that was a hit. A story is a story. Any medium will work if it is done right.

Funny you say that none of these images look remotely “real” there is ONE real person among this selection that I asume was included here due the fact it is in a portfolio in CGSociety, but it is a real one with a CG background.
And believe me.. there are CG characters that can act much better than real people. (thanks heaven for the animators!!)

People have such creative minds and can use the future of technology to create new kind of art.

All I can say is what amazing talent. Most of them I could not even tell that they were computer generated. The first one I saw that stopped me in my tracks was “Jessica Biel” by Desiree Lunsford. She has the eye for making that piece look so realistic. She stood out from the other pieces of artwork.
