I have been thinking of doing a directory of Designers, whether it be web, print, graphic or 3D, and showcase some of the work that you have done. I want to be able to supply my visitors with some great artwork from you all and the linkage so they can check you out.
When submitting a link to your portfolio please point out 5 images you would like to have showcased on the site. If you don’t point them out I will pick the ones I feel are best suited for the new site.
If you want to be a part of this directory (which, when done, will have its own website) then just add yourself by commenting this post by including:

* I have no training, education, or background in graphics, design, or anything of the sort. When I was little I used to draw graffiti (on paper!). When I got my first PC (had an *old* Apple Performa 550 for the longest time) I downloaded Paintshop Pro (this was back in like 97ish) and got hooked. From there I eventually branched out into getting Photoshop through my school and just messed around. Most of what I’ve done over the past year or two are small forum signatures. But when I have free time I do try to read through tutorials. I’ve designed a few websites in the past and it’s something I enjoy. Unfortunately by the time I knew enough I had already gone through school and couldn’t turn back and major in Web Design. I’m thinking of going back to school for it if I can find the money to do so. Until then, I’m just doing what I can to get involved with the online graphic design community and learn what I can from you all!

I’ve never been comfortable when someone designates themselves as an artist. It seemed like something that you have to earn, that someone bestows upon you after you make great strives in your career. Today, a successful designer requires a set of skills that are elastic while remaining relevant and they should be lead by ideas, independent of media. Design rarely exists for design’s sake, but must be guided by business principles and the audience that it is intended for.
I have spent the last 25 years designing smart, strategic and memorable marketing, advertising and graphic communications. Work that breaks through the norm, talks to the market and gives a brand personality.
I look at things from a variety of angles and perspectives to draw involve the audience, not interupt them. All while achieving the business objective. I work in print, on the web and also on television.

In the year 2000 I started making my first websites. They were fansites of bands I was into at the time. Built in Microsoft Frontpage, based on frames, it was my first attempt at spreading my interests on the Internet. Several years after that, I started working with Adobe Photoshop to enhance the visual aspect of my websites.
In the year 2004 I was introduced to Maxon’s Cinema4D. I was immediately hooked on it. I found it very fulfilling to create 3d objects that resembled stuff I owned in real life. Hundreds and hundreds of hours later, I find that I’ve come to be a pretty good 3d modeler (for examples see my portfolio blog).
In 2008 I first started working with Adobe After Effects, my new favorite pass time. I started learning After Effects with help from the tutorials over at http://www.videocopilot.net (definitely check this site out if you’re into After Effects!). I found that creating/desinging/animating in After Effects gives you a result much faster than 3D applications. However, I feel nothing gives the same “feel” as actual 3d objects and animations. So I started finding ways to incorporate 3D objects in my After Effects animations. Luckily After Effects CS4 now natively supports 3D .psd files. Also, with help of the Zaxwerks plugin Pro Animator I’m able to import 3d objects into After Effects and animate them there. I’m always striving to become a better designer and animator.
