Working with computer graphics has become quite easy if you know what you are doing. Texturing and adding layers upon layers of photo realistic materials is a blast once you have created the wire frame that is making up your character or object. However the modeling itself is the real hard part. If you for example are trying to create a photo realistic person with all his/her features entirely correctly modeled and textured you can be sure that you have to spend quite a lot of time in front of the computer.
Professionals learn new tricks and shortcuts each day and today, if you have a lot of money, you can use 3D scanners to grab the perfect features in just a few minutes. Texturing though is done per hand and is always fun however it is a really time consuming process that takes both skills and patience.
But once you get the result you’re after it can be quite amazing and awe inspiring. Not only do I think we’ll see more and more actors getting their own computer generated double but it can secure their legendary performances beyond their life span. Once they leave this earth their CG double can take over and make sure they keep on doing movies even though they are no longer present. Makes for a great new era in movie making don’t you think?
